Industrial Machine Data Acquisition
Collecting machine data reliably is the first step of every digital production and monitoring project. We design and build solutions that read data from PLCs, sensors and field devices and pass it to the software layer.
Standard protocols such as OPC UA and Modbus TCP over industrial Ethernet, or an IoT gateway, are used. Where off-the-shelf devices are not enough, we also work on the hardware side with embedded systems and PCB design.

Project scope
- Reading data from PLCs and field devices (standard protocols such as OPC UA and Modbus TCP)
- IoT gateway / edge device software
- Data transfer to a server or the cloud using lightweight protocols such as MQTT
- Time-series storage and real-time monitoring dashboards
- Data buffering during connection outages (can be included in scope)
- Embedded system and PCB design for custom hardware, when needed
This page describes the scope of our software development and integration capability. It makes no claim about completed projects, customer results or an off-the-shelf product; scope, timeline and integrations are defined after a needs analysis.
Frequently asked questions
How is data collected from a PLC?
It depends on the protocol the PLC supports; if it offers a standard interface such as OPC UA or Modbus TCP, data can be read directly. Otherwise a gateway device or extra hardware may be required.
What is the difference between OPC UA and Modbus TCP?
Modbus TCP is a simple and widespread protocol for reading and writing values. OPC UA is a broader standard with a data model, security and discovery features. Which one is used depends on what the device supports.
What is an IoT gateway?
An IoT gateway is an intermediate device or piece of software that carries data between field devices and a server or cloud and, when needed, pre-processes it.
Can data be collected from older machines without a PLC?
In many cases this is possible with extra hardware such as sensors, counters or energy analyzers; feasibility is assessed per machine.
